Anne and I had an addition to our family this year. Lucas Henri Gulick was born on August 13th after an uncomplicated but somewhat intense birth. Needless to say our lives have changed dramatically, especially when you add in the fact that we bought a house in the suburbs of Boston and moved out from our downtown appartment in June! Our weekends now consist of timing our errands to the mall to fit in with Lucas' naps, having coffee with new parents we have met in the area, going to bed at 8:30, and of course changing diapers! Our dates now consist of snuggling on the couch and watching a video after Lucas has gone down. Home ownership is also keeping us busy given that we bought a house that needed alot of touching up. We have painted quite a few rooms and put in new carpets and will tackle a bathroom next, but the big job of putting in a new kitchen will have to wait til next year. As our last vacation pre-kids we chose to get decadent and went to a Club Med in Guadeloupe in Feburary. The island actually reminded me quite a bit of Fiji as it has a flat, dry side with sugar cane plantations and the white sandy beaches, and a volcanic wet side that has a stunning rain forest, numerous waterfalls and the omnipresent clouds. Highly recommended. I am closing in on 3 years working for PRTM, a management consulting firm, although I'm not sure how much longer I'll stay. The 4 days a week travel are much harder to swallow as a father. I hope all is well with everyone and that life continues to challenge and reward.
