Ni Sa Bula Vinaka Kemuni na lewe ni Pisi Ko ni Viti Kei Tuvalu 76 (Hi all)!

Wanted to let you know that Reggie and I have adopted a little montana boy.
A quick summary

Reggie and I spent a week in billings in Dec 02 with a little boy named
alex who we were selected to be the adoptive parents for. Things went well
and we brought him back with us at the end of the week. Alex is soon-to-be
three years old (Dec 22). He is a really cute kid, extremely
affectionate, and has a great smile (see pictures). When he wants to be a
pill though, he sure can be- he can tantrum with the best of them. He is
from a background of neglet so some of his behaviors are likely resultant
from that, but i also understand that he is of ripe tantrum age. He is
speech delayed, but has shown good progress in the last year under foster
care, and even in the last several weeks with us. We hope that most of
this delay will be negated with speech therapy and counseling. Needless to
say our lives have changed in ways that intellectual training cannot
prepare you for. We are enjoying being a family, having dinner together,
reading books, pulling the wagon, and riding his "bikencycle" (spiderman
trike).

For those of you who do not know. We now live in Missoula, Mt. I came
here to work as a fisheries biologist for the Forest Service in April 2001
while Reggie stayed in Davis to finish here PhD in Environemental
Chemistry. Reggie joined me here in Nov of 2001. She works as a post-doc
researcher at the University of MT in the pharmasuetical sciences
department doing protiomic and analytical chemistry. She hopes to be
funded for some atmospheric analytical chemistry research, which is what
she is most interested in. I really enjoy where I work and the people I
work with. I primarily work on Forest aqautic issues with a focus on
stream managment, including bull and westslope cutthroat trout recovery.
Missoula is a great place to live. We bought a house in August and plan to
be here for the forseable future. However, if Reg does not find a long
term career interest then we will plan our next move.

Hope all is well. Interesting to hear that Peace Corps may return to Fiji.

Sa moce!
